Back and forth

The Germans have just announced that they're not going to give Taurus missiles to the Ukrainians. Not that I think they would matter much anyway. Again, there's no magical weapon here or set of weapons that you can give to the Ukrainians that are going to change uh what's happening in the war. The Russians are on a roll. The Russians are going to win, and there's nothing that we in the West can do to alter that reality.

they're capable of inflicting strikes on the Russians. Is it going to change the the war? No. Because the focal point of the war is the front line on the ground. This is where everything matters. So I think this is just a way for Europeans to sell more weapons.

I think the Russians have walked away from Donald Trump. They don't see any evidence for any honesty or integrity in the conduct of our foreign policy. That's also been true in connection with Iran. We pretended that we were negotiating and then we assisted the Israelis in launching a surprise attack and then of course we weighed in ourselves. So I don't think anybody believes us any longer and I think it's Trump's fault. He's he's just not being honest at all about anything.

[. . .]

And now we're going to ship more things over there. Who's going to use them? Who's going to be trained to use them? Well, that's that's a question nobody answers. And remember that 40 to 50% of everything we send over there ends up on the black market. If they can do it, they'll do it. I mean, we've got people running around with Javelin missile systems in Mexico in the cartels. So, God knows where half of this equipment ends up.

[. . .]

17 Patriot missiles. You know, how many targets will that take care of? Eight or nine? If they're lucky, seven or more likely seven or eight? Every time an incoming missile is targeted to land in your area, you're going to fire two missiles at that missile. Now, how many hundreds of missiles need to be fired to put the Patriots out of business? Not very many. How many Patriots do we produce in a year? 660. How many have we got on hand? I don't know. But I can tell you that you'll go through a 100red or 200 or 300 Patriot missiles in a couple of days. This is all crazy nonsense. It's not going to change anything, but it keeps it keeps the war going so to say, maintains the fiction that something is happening and NATO is robust and capable.

people say, well, actually, we want, you know, British money to be spent on on British people, not forever wars. And I think actually this story about Zilinski and undermining the independence of the corruption organs in Ukraine will just make British people look up and say, "Hold on a minute. Why are we giving all this money to Ukraine and it's being shuffled off into people's Swiss bank accounts?"

[. . .]

You know, we had big protests about cutting 5 billion pounds from the welfare budget to take disability benefits of British people and we couldn't even make that cut. You know, there's no way there's no route to us finding another 8 billion pounds a year, you know, without impoverishing people further. particularly as now we're already expecting increases in taxes anyway.

Follow the money!

As he boarded the night train to Ukraine,  Boris Johnson  had the usual entourage of aides and bodyguards – plus the man who had given him £1m

Less than a year had passed since Johnson accepted what is thought to be the largest donation ever to an individual MP. It was from Christopher Harborne, one of the UK’s biggest and most private political donors.

Harborne, whose millions helped bankroll Brexit, made the payment to a private company Johnson set up after resigning as prime minister. Now leaked files show that Johnson, a champion of Ukraine in office and since, was accompanied in September 2023 by his benefactor on a two-day visit that included meetings with top officials.
